The Kennedy Brothers

Seattle's premier  live performance duo since 1997

                         About The Kennedy Brothers

Influences/History

Joe started playing guitar and singing along with albums at age 11.  After learning how to entertain with Zigfield Common through his high school years in Iowa City(1976-1981), he performed solo at local pubs and events.

Tom, 4 years his junior, discovered his amazing voice at age 18 and never looked back.  He became the lead vocalist/frontman for Fairchildren, tearing up the stages of the Midwest.

Joe relocated to Colorado in 1984 and continued playing solo, including songwriting and recording.  Tom headed for Seattle in 1991 and teamed up with Jay Pinto as the acoustic duo Bananafish, releasing several albums during the early 1990's.  Tom later fronted the original pop/rock band Five O'Clock Somewhere and refined his songwriting and recording talents.

Although the brothers were separated geographically, they harmonized together during annual visits.  They hoped that the future would include some sort of musical collaboration.

In 1996, Joe left Colorado and headed to the Pacific Northwest and joined Tom to form The Kennedy Brothers.  It was during this time that Tom perfected his unique drumming style to compliment Joe's rhythm guitar attack. This confluence created one of the most enduring live performance duos of Seattle's vibrant music scene.  They have been going strong ever since, continually adding new music and new fans and friends along the way.

Our Roots

We are blessed to have had strong support for music within our family.  In particular, our mother Barbara had a beautiful voice and was one of the all time great music lovers. There were 4 record players in our house, each with a unique playlist determined by the individual tastes of our 5 older brothers and sister Susan.

Mom hosted many band rehearsal sessions in the basement and kept us both on the right track.  Dad always reminded us to keep it simple.  They viewed our pursuit of music performance as a righteous endeavor and were very proud when we became "The Kennedy Brothers".

We both have supporting families who understand and accept the fact that music performance remains a priority and our shared passion.  We enjoy sharing that passion with each group of listeners.  After all this time, the music is still fresh and exciting.
